Big Little Helpers

Tonight we are having hay stack so while Dale worked on the chicken, I was cutting veggies. The boys wanted to help too so Dale set them up grating the cheese. After a little while Colin can to help me. He got a plastic knife from the kitchen set and a cutting board so I gave him a piece of bell pepper. Then he was upgraded to a butter knife. While Patrick grated all the cheese, Colin helped cut bell pepper and tomato. Now it's time to eat!!

HAPPY EARTH DAY

Every year I try to plan an Earth Day project for the kids and I. This morning I still didn't have an ideas. Then I remembered these butterfly feeders I wanted to make with the kids. They're hard to see in the picture and there really wasn't much for the kids to do but they turned out cute. We took baby food jars and drilled a small hole in the lid and stuffed a cotton ball in the hole. Then the kids each picked a color (Colin's red, Patrick's blue, Samantha's multicolor, & mine is purple) and I cut out cloth "petals" which we stuck in under the lid. Now we can fill them with sugar water and hang them in our flower garden. (I'm still trying to think of the best way to hang them.) The butterflies will see the "petals" and when they come to check it out they'll smell the nectar. They are so cute, I hope they work.

Samantha's Family Home Evening

Samantha put herself in charge of Family Home Evening tonight.
She started by showing us this sign she made.
It says, "I will CTR".
Then she asked us questions about the Holy Ghost from her Primary class.
She then read to us from the Book of Baptist.
(Yes, Colin is crying because Patrick kicked him in the face. Love at Home!!)

After that she got out her Bible.

She showed us all the pictures and maps in the back of her Bible and her Book of Mormon.
WOW!
She's already planning Family Home Evening for next week.
We're looking forward to it!

Samantha Rencher
(Please note the gap in her bottom teeth)

This is a keeper!!! Samantha made this book all by herself!! She must have been really paying attention in Primary. She came home with the pictures (page 2 of her book). They were about half colored so while I was getting the boys in bed she finished coloring them. Then she cut them out, glued them to another paper, wrote her book, and stapled it together. Good work Little Bit!!!

Our Weekend Picnic

We had a great family picnic this weekend. My Dad took us to a place called Washington Park. It's almost to Payson. It was a cool place in the woods. There was a stream the kids had fun playing in. The water was so cold but they didn't care. Colin slipped and got his pants all wet so he was looking cool in his t-shirt, undies, & boots. We ate lunch and hiked around. When we got home I asked the kids what their favorite thing about our picnic was. Samantha said playing in the water. Colin and Patrick both thought that peeing on a tree was the best.

Poor Samantha

Our poor Samantha looks like she's been in a fight. She lost her second tooth several days ago and then on Wednesday she fell getting off the bus. She a big scrap on her nose, missing teeth, and bruised and scraped knees. Poor girl. To top it all off I wasn't even home when she fell. Grandma's are great but she wanted her Mom and had to wait. The good news is I got home, gave her lots of huggin's, and she's feeling fine.
