Solar Ovens

Today Samantha came home from school all excited to made a solar oven. Of course if Samantha wants to do it the boys do too.

I got some stuff for them to make smores.

I had to keep reminding them that their ovens wouldn't work if they were blocking the sun.

The smores cooking.

Colin wants to change his name.

What does he want to change it to you might ask.
To Coliflower!!
What else?
(I'm glad he let's me call him that now, but how long before he's completely mortified by it?!?)

Long Live King Patrick!

The kids talked Dale into making them metal crowns a few weeks ago. They all like them but Patrick has really taken to his. He wears his for days at a time. I have to tie his blanket ("Yellow") around him when he's being a king and today he's added a sword to his ensemble.
He's the cutest king I have ever seen.

Sheep's Crossing

Today we went on a picnic at Sheep's Crossing. Dale remembers coming to this area with his family. We had a great time.

The kids went hiking with Daddy and Grandpa.

They loved the stream and had a really hard time staying out of it.
As you can see Patrick failed miserably.
The water was kind of cold and the sun was behind clouds, in fact it started to rain as we were leaving. Not the best day to be soaking wet.

Here is a picture of the old bridge.

(We came here to cut Christmas trees when the boys were 1 month old.)

And here is the new bridge.

Way to go Samantha!!!

Samantha earned the Outstanding Citizenship award first thing this year.
After days of insanely naught behavior at home, this came as a shock.
It's good to know she's been good at school.
Keep up the good work!!!

Fashion Statement?

Today was Samantha's first day of school.
This isn't the outfit I would have picked but she's still cute.

Makin' $$$$

Patrick set up this stand today to make some money. He's selling homemade placemats for $2 each. I took this picture and as I was heading into the house he told me that he thought that when I came back out there would be a line of cars to buy his placemats.
I never saw a line of cars but he was able to sell quite a few. Thank goodness for parents and grandparents. Colin even bought one but he got a discount because he didn't have $2.
Uncle Alan talked Patrick into selling him a placemat at a 100% discount.
